Mazzle Dazzle Photography

My name is Marianne McCarthy and I live on Bulloo Downs near Thargomindah in Southwest Queensland. Bulloo Downs is a 2.8-million-acre Cattle Station that my husband manages for the Gibson Family. I thoroughly enjoy living and working in outback Australia especially the Channel Country as it has always felt like home to me. I was born and raised in the bush until I had to move to town for schooling but the day my schooling was complete, I packed up and headed out west back to the bush. I started working as a Jillaroo when I was 15 years old and have worked my way throughout the Channel Country, Northern Territory and Western Australia. Over the years I have had the opportunity to work on some great places with some amazing people who have given every opportunity to excel in the industry teaching me so many life skills. I have had a go at most jobs on a station trying out as a stockperson, Bore mechanic, Bore runner, cook, grader driver and even a few office skills. I still kick myself that I never had a camera for all my years spent working on stations because the scenery is not far short of breathtaking. Even in the harshest of seasons there is still so much beauty in this sunburnt country. These days I am kept flat out as a lizard drinking just being a Mum, housewife and home tutor to our three beautiful children. In my spare time what little of it I have I am out and about with my cameras usually getting in the way taking photos of the ringers, cattle, roadtrains, landscapes, bulldust, helicopters and of course my children. I started Mazzle Dazzle photography early in 2020 and wow what a year it has been so far, I have gone from sharing a few images with everyone about life in the Channel Country on Facebook to using my photo’s to design rural themed fishing shirts, stubby coolers, calendars, caps and a whole lot of other merchandise that has been selling like hotcakes. I am quite overwhelmed at all the support I have received from my family and friends and I cannot wait to see where the wind blows me. Hopefully down the track I can get into photographing bush weddings, family photography and maternity shoots but for now with very little spare time my main priority is educating my children and supporting my husband is his role.
